CLADHO ORGANIZED A SUCCESSFUL DIALOGUE WITH CHILD PROTECTION ACTORS IN RULINDO DISTRICT

On 11th March 2022, CLADHO organized a successful dialogue with child protection actors in Rulindo District. The dialogue aimed at discussing education, health and child protection challenges faced by children and adolescents in the District.

The dialogue brought together 46 participants including District vice mayor in charge of social affairs, District Chief investigator – RIB, District Police Commander, representatives of faith/religious leaders, Sector officials in charge of social affairs, members of the women council, members of community-based child protection structures.

During the dialogue, the executive secretary of CLADHO informed attendees of its obligations as legal personality including promoting human rights, advocating for transparency and accountability. Child rights are of important consideration and we endeavor to ensure that children and adolescents thrive in favorable environments.

In the   remarks , MUHIMPUNDU Albertine – DCI RIB requested for collective efforts to curb the increasing number of children and adolescent’s abuse. She noted that with the intervention of CLADHO & community taking ownership of the challenges, child abuse can be eradicated ,  RIB is not here to arrest and investigate, but to provide services including awareness raising, so invite us during different events ;village meetings, parents evenings, any other meetings so we can educate citizens on these and many other issues.

At the end of dialogue, local authorities including RIB, Police and Vice-Mayor social affairs appreciate the activity and the outcome and call each to contribute in prevention and in taking action as lead examples to address child protection issues and concerns. CLADHO will continue the project in collaboration with these participants who are aware of existing challenges and who are committed to intervene at their level.
