Nyabisundu cell is located in Kiramuri sector in Gastisbo District, the cell has had no running clean water for a long period of time. Since 2019, when CVA model was applied in the community development programs, community members raised the issue of lack of clean water, something that the District listened too.
In 2022, through lobbying and advocacy done by the CVA group, the District approached world Vision which agreed to partly contribute to establishment of water taps in the cell. Today community members celebrate the achievements;
- 9 out of 13 villages have water points
- Citizens walk between 300 – 400 kms to fetch clean water unlike before when they walked 4 kms to Lake Muhazi to fetch water.
- 13 water users’ committees have been set up and trained, working with community members they have set up water fetching time table, water point cleaning and fence repair time table where every community member plays a role.
- Communities have been equipped with skills and tools to help them identify service delivery gaps and challenges and seek improvement from service providers.
CLADHO in partnership with World Vision Rwanda has introduced Citizen Voice and Action – an advocacy model which is aimed at empowering and encouraging communities to ask for good service delivery and participate in community development.
