On June 14, 2025, in collaboration with World Vision International, CLADHO took part in the celebration
of the Day of the African Child in Rusizi District. This annual event brought together a diverse group of
participants, including children, parents, educators, community leaders, and local government officials.
The event was held under the theme: “NDERA NEZA NKURE NEMYE”, which
underscores the critical role of effective parenting and community involvement in ensuring the well-
being and holistic development of children.
The celebration served as a platform to raise awareness on children’s rights and the importance of
nurturing environment in preventing all forms of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Through
engaging activities such as speeches, presentations by children, and community discussions, participants
were reminded of their shared responsibility in protecting and empowering the younger generation.
CLADHO and World Vision International emphasized on the need of continued collaboration among
stakeholders to promote positive parenting, strengthen child protection systems, and build a society
where every child will thrive in safety and dignity.
By bringing communities together on this important day, the event not only honored the legacy of the
Day of the African Child but also reinforced collective commitment to building a brighter future for all
children.
