Climate change adaptation and climate justice
In the program of climate justice, we are focusing on addressing the impacts of climate change, particularly on vulnerable and marginalized communities, advocacy for policies and actions that integrate human rights principles, ensure equitable adaptation measures, and hold responsible parties accountable for addressing climate-related challenges through the following interventions:
- Research
- Conduct research to assess the human rights implications of climate change on communities, especially those most vulnerable.
- Advocacy for Climate Justice
- Advocate for climate justice, emphasizing the responsibility of governments, corporations, and international bodies to address climate change in a way that respects human rights,
- Campaign for policies that prioritize the needs and rights of vulnerable communities in climate action.
- Community Empowerment
- Empower communities to actively participate in climate adaptation strategies.
- Capacity Building
- Build the capacity of communities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to understand the human rights dimensions of climate change,
- Provide training on climate adaptation strategies that respect human rights and promote sustainability.
- Access to Information
- Advocate for transparency and access to information regarding climate policies, projects, and funding,
- Ensure that communities are informed and involved in decision-making processes related to climate adaptation.
- Gender-Responsive Climate Action
- Promote gender-responsive climate policies that consider the specific vulnerabilities and impacts of climate change on women and other gender groups,
- Advocate for the inclusion of women in decision-making processes related to climate adaptation.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other organizations, climate justice networks and other stakeholders to advocate for global climate action that respects human rights.
