Gender promotion program

Human rights organizations play a crucial role in promoting gender equality and addressing gender-based violence’s. Through this program, CLADHO do the following:

  1. Research on Gender Issues
    • Conduct research to identify and analyze gender disparities and discrimination in various sectors,
    • Collect data to inform evidence-based advocacy for gender-responsive policies and programs.
  2. Advocacy for Gender Equality
    • Advocate for the inclusion of gender equality as a fundamental human right,
    • Analyze existing policies and budgets to assess their gender impact.
    • Develop recommendations for gender-sensitive policies and advocate for their adoption.
  3. Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and Gender Budget Statements
    • Advocate for the integration of gender-responsive budgeting practices in government financial planning and budgeting processes,
    • Work with government agencies to ensure that budgets address the specific needs and priorities of different genders,
    • Advocate for the inclusion of gender budget statements in government budgets,
    • Analyze Gender Budget statements towards ensuring that these statements provide a clear breakdown of how public resources are allocated to address gender disparities and promote equality.
  4. Capacity Building:
    • Conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public about the importance of gender equality and the impact of gender-responsive budgeting on the overall well-being of society,
    • Provide training and capacity-building programs for civil society organizations, Local Leaders and other stakeholders on gender-responsive budgeting and the importance of gender equality.
  5. Community Engagement:
    • Engage with communities to understand their specific gender-related concerns and needs,
    • Empower communities, especially women and marginalized groups, to actively participate in decision-making processes related to budget allocation.
  6. Legal Advocacy:
    • Engage in legal advocacy to challenge discriminatory laws and practices that perpetuate gender inequality.
    • Provide legal support to victims of gender-based violence.

By focusing on gender promotion, including gender-responsive budgeting, CLADHO contributes to dismantling systemic barriers, addressing gender-based discrimination, and fostering an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
