Research and advocacy program

CLADHO as the Umbrella of Human rights organizations, engage in robust research and advocacy programs to address systemic issues, promote policy changes, and raise awareness about human rights violations through the following:

  1. Research
    • Conduct systematic research to document human rights violations,
    • Investigate specific incidents or broader patterns to compile evidence for advocacy purposes,
    • Collaborate with academic institutions, researchers, and experts to strengthen the research methodologies and findings.
    • Ensure that research is rigorous, evidence-based, and contributes to a deeper understanding of human rights issues.
  2. Policy Analysis
    • Analyze existing laws, policies, and practices to assess their compliance with international human rights standards,
    • Develop recommendations for legal and policy reforms to address gaps and strengthen human rights protections.
  3. Advocacy Campaigns
    • Develop and implement advocacy campaigns to promote specific human rights causes,
    • Utilize various mediums such as Radio and TV talkshows, social media, public and community dialogues for advocacy purpose.
  4. Litigation Support
    • Provide legal support to individuals or groups whose rights have been violated, including strategic litigation to challenge unjust laws or practices.
  5. Engagement with Policymakers
    • Build relationships with policymakers, legislators, and government officials to advocate for human rights-friendly legislation and policies,
    • Provide expert input in the drafting and review of laws to ensure their alignment with international human rights standards.
  6. Coalition Building
    • Collaborate with other human rights organizations, civil society groups, and CBOs to form coalitions for collective advocacy efforts.
  7. Public Awareness Programs
    • Conduct public awareness programs to educate communities about their rights and promote a culture of respect for human dignity,
    • Use creative methods, including art, music, and community events, to engage diverse audiences.
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Establish mechanisms for monitoring the impact of advocacy efforts and adapting strategies based on feedback and changing circumstances.
